Everything we take on

Every job below is one we do ourselves across Anaheim.

Custom Deck Design

We design decks around how you actually use your yard, not just a rectangle bolted to the back of the house. That might mean a multi-level layout to work around a slope, or a built-in bench that doubles as storage. We draw it to scale before ordering a single board, so you know exactly what you're getting.

Deck Installation

We frame with pressure-treated lumber, set posts on poured concrete footings below grade, and space joists at 16 inches on center for standard decking. Ledger boards get flashed and bolted into the rim joist, never just nailed to siding. Most standard decks take three to five days once the permit's approved.

Deck Repair

Bouncy boards, a railing that wiggles, a post that's rotted at the base, we see all three constantly. Sometimes it's one bad joist that needs sistering, sometimes the whole substructure needs replacing while the decking on top is still fine. We tell you which one it is before we start pulling boards.

Composite Decking Installation

Composite boards like Trex or TimberTech don't rot or splinter, but they still need proper joist spacing and hidden fastener clips or they'll buckle in the heat. We follow the manufacturer's spec sheet on gapping and blocking so the warranty stays valid. It costs more upfront than wood but you're not restaining it every other summer.

Deck Staining & Sealing

Anaheim sun bakes untreated wood fast, and a deck without a sealant coat will gray and crack within a year or two. We pressure wash, let it dry fully, sand any raised grain, then apply a penetrating stain or clear sealer depending on the wood. Cedar and redwood usually need resealing every one to two years out here.

Deck Railing Repair & Installation

Loose balusters, a rail pulled away from the post, cable railing that's lost its tension, we fix all of it. We also install new railing systems in wood, cable, or aluminum to meet the 36-inch height code for residential decks. Guardrail spacing gets checked so nothing's more than 4 inches apart.

Deck Resurfacing & Refinishing

If your framing's still solid but the decking boards are cupped, splintering, or just outdated, we can strip the old boards and replace just the surface. This costs less than a full rebuild and usually takes a day or two. It's a good option for a structure under ten years old.

Deck Demolition & Removal

Old decks come down board by board, and we check the ledger and framing on the way out in case anything's leaking into the house. We haul away every scrap of lumber and dispose of it, so you're not stuck renting a dumpster.

Deck Safety Inspections

We check post footings for movement, joist hangers for rust or pulled nails, and railing for the wobble that means a loose connection. You get a written rundown of what's fine, what needs attention soon, and what's a hazard right now. Worth doing before you list a house for sale or buy one with an existing deck.

Deck Pergolas & Shade Covers

A lot of decks in Anaheim need shade more than anything else by July. We build pergolas and louvered covers that attach to the existing deck framing or stand on their own footings, depending on what the structure underneath can carry.

How It Works

Four steps, and no surprises in any of them.

01

We come and look

You tell us what you want doing, we look at what is actually there, and we ask the awkward questions early.

02

You get a price

In writing, itemised, free. If something might add cost later we flag it now rather than at the end.

03

We do the work

Same crew throughout. We cover your floors, keep the dust down and tidy up before we leave each day.

04

We walk it with you

You point out anything you are not happy with and we fix it before the invoice, not after.

Common Questions

Things worth asking

Questions that come up once a deck project is actually underway.

Do I need a permit to build a deck in Anaheim?
Anaheim requires a building permit for most decks higher than 30 inches above grade, and for many decks attached to the house regardless of height. Permits typically require a plot plan and structural details showing footing size, joist spacing, and ledger attachment.
How long does a deck project take to complete?
A standard wood deck under 400 square feet usually takes three to seven working days once permits are approved and materials are on site. Composite decks with railing, stairs, or multiple levels can run one to two weeks, and permit approval itself can add several weeks before construction even starts.
Can you work within a specific budget?
Budget constraints can be met by adjusting decking material, railing style, or square footage rather than cutting corners on structural components like footings and joists. Pressure-treated pine costs less than composite or hardwood and is a common way to bring a project in under budget without compromising the frame.
Do you offer any kind of warranty on deck work?
Workmanship warranties on deck construction commonly range from one to five years depending on the contractor, covering structural issues like frame settling or hardware failure. Manufacturer warranties on composite decking materials are separate and typically last 25 to 50 years against fading, staining, or structural defects.
Who will I be dealing with during the project?
A single point of contact typically manages scheduling, material questions, and any changes during a deck build, rather than the homeowner tracking down different crew members. Direct phone or text contact throughout the project is standard for most deck contractors.
What decking materials do you work with?
Common decking materials include pressure-treated pine, cedar, redwood, and composite brands like Trex or TimberTech, each with different cost, maintenance, and lifespan tradeoffs. Wood costs less upfront but needs resealing every one to two years in Southern California heat, while composite costs more but skips annual sealing.
Can I still use my yard while the deck is being built?
Most of the yard stays usable during deck construction since work is generally contained to the footprint of the new structure and a staging area for materials. Access for concrete trucks or material delivery may temporarily block a driveway or side gate for part of a day.
What should I do to prepare before deck construction starts?
Clearing furniture, planters, and grills from the work area, and marking any buried sprinkler lines or low-voltage wiring near the planned footing locations, helps avoid delays once digging starts. Trimming back plants or trees close to the house also gives crews room to work along the ledger.
What happens if you find rot or damage once the old deck comes off?
Rotted rim joists, damaged siding, or termite activity hidden behind an old deck's ledger board are common finds once demolition starts, and they typically require an extra repair before new construction continues. This kind of discovery usually adds a change order to the contract rather than derailing the project entirely.
How do I take care of a new deck once it's finished?
Wood decks need a fresh coat of sealant or stain every one to two years in a hot, dry climate to prevent cracking and graying. Composite decks mainly need regular washing to remove dirt and pollen, since debris trapped between boards can hold moisture against the frame underneath.
